Čabraď Castle Ruins
Čabraď is a medieval castle ruin located near the village of Čabradský Vrbovok. It was built in the 13th century to protect important trade routes leading to the mining towns. In the 16th century, it became an important anti-Ottoman fortress, and the Ottomans repeatedly tried, but failed, to conquer it.
By car:
From Čabradský Vrbovok, turn at the church towards the settlement of Konské, where the asphalt road ends. Leave your car near the forest road and continue on foot for approximately 40 minutes along the blue hiking trail towards the Litava Valley. After crossing the bridge near the small church, turn onto the path leading to the castle.
Walking route:
The protected landscape area where the castle is located is accessible via the blue-marked hiking trail (route no. 2637) from Hrušov.

The Traditional Folk Costume House was created from a desire to preserve the authentic form of the traditional Hrušov folk costume. Around forty local women contributed to the creation of this extensive collection, gathering clothing pieces that represent every stage of human life – from birth to burial.
The collection includes original costume elements, with the oldest pieces dating back to the 19th century, complemented by photographs and accompanying texts. The process of collecting, restoring, and documenting the garments took several years, resulting in a living exhibition that preserves the memory and cultural heritage of the village.
The ceremonial opening took place on 13 August 2023 during the Hontianska Paráda folklore festival. The exhibition presented here represents only part of the collection and will gradually be expanded with additional thematic displays.
In the rear part of the Traditional Folk Costume House, visitors can also find a restored cross dating back to 1931, which adds to the authentic atmosphere of the space.

Tesárska Gorge
Located in the cadastral area of Hontianske Tesáre, Tesárska Gorge is a unique natural monument showcasing the geological history of the region. It represents a remarkable example of sedimentation in a river delta environment and documents the erosive power of water combined with tectonic processes and differences in rock resistance.
The gorge has the character of a narrow canyon and is formed mainly by volcanic sediments that are relatively soft and susceptible to water erosion. Over time, these processes created a short but striking canyon-like valley.
Along the walls of the gorge, visitors can observe fascinating geological features, especially the chaotic sedimentation typical of an ancient river delta. Particularly impressive is the visible cross-bedding, which provides evidence that a shallow sea likely once covered this area.

Prášny vrch Lookout Tower
The largely deforested hill known as Prášny vrch rises above the village of Hrušov and has become a perfect location for a beautiful wooden lookout tower. The lookout tower is also part of the local educational trail.
The tower is approximately 15 metres high. At first sight, visitors are drawn to its unusual staircase, which rises diagonally and is relatively steep. Once you reach the top, you are rewarded with beautiful almost circular panoramic views in every direction.
The route to the lookout tower is easy and suitable for families with children as a pleasant trip. You can reach it via the educational trail starting in Hrušov, which takes you through the most interesting local sites. The complete circular trail is approximately 6 km long.

Historic Stationary Engine Exhibition
This collection of stationary engines was created from a passion for preserving the technical heritage of rural life. The first exhibits began to be collected in 1999, mainly from surrounding villages and small rural settlements.
The exhibition features engines from brands such as Slávia, Škoda, Robot, Lorenc, and Deutz. The oldest piece comes from Iowa, USA, and is more than 100 years old.
By 2009, the collection had grown to almost 100 engines, around one tenth of which are still fully functional. These so-called "stabiláky" were once used on farms as power units for various agricultural and craft activities.

Bzovík Fortress
Originally a Benedictine monastery and later a Premonstratensian monastery dating back to the 12th century, this historic site was built on a hill above the village of Bzovík. In the 15th century, a Gothic monastery with a cloister and inner courtyard was added to the Romanesque church.
After the monastery was sold in 1908, it gradually fell into decline. During World War II, it was severely damaged. Today, only ruins remain, with the most remarkable feature being the Gothic sacristy, later adapted into a chapel.
The fortress can be reached from the village of Bzovík by taking the road towards Uňatín, from where a field path leads directly to the ruins. Access by car is possible up to the bridge.

Dudince Spa
The healing mineral water of Dudince is the greatest natural treasure of this spa town and the main reason why visitors from near and far come here. According to local legend, a fairy named Dudinka saved the son of a Roman commander from certain death using the miraculous healing water. Since then, the water is said to have carried her healing power and has been helping people for generations.
Interesting facts:
The Dudince Travertines are located in the well-known spa town of Dudince in the Krupina district. They were formed by mineral deposits created by water flowing around the natural springs in the spa park. This national natural monument, managed by the Štiavnické vrchy Protected Landscape Area administration, can be explored along an educational trail with seven stops.
Visitors can admire an extensive travertine field as well as a 10-metre-high travertine mound.

Žobrák near Vinica is one of the beautiful and lesser-known places in the Hont region.
